Popular Kailua and Lanikai beaches on O‘ahu are typically quite crowded, but during the pandemic my family and I were able to enjoy them in all their serenity. We are very grateful for the restorative setting as we rode out the quarantine. I took the image for this painting while wrapping up a particularly restful evening walk. It was transferred to wood, and then I hand-painted it with oils and pastels. I love how the grain of the wood adds texture and depth to this piece.
