About the Artist

Toni Parras creates distinctive artwork that captures the imagination. Her signature style combines black-and-white photography with hand-painted artistry, transforming simple subjects into vibrant expressions of wonder. Each piece begins as a black-and-white image, then comes alive through her meticulous hand-painting process using oils, chalks, pastels, watercolors, dyes and pencils.

Her intimate portraits of hibiscus flowers and island landscapes invite viewers to pause, reflect and reconnect with the natural world that surrounds us.

Toni has worked as a professional writer and photographer with a focus on nature, arts and culture. Her award-winning photography has been published internationally, commissioned by individuals, government agencies and private museums, exhibited in galleries and other public venues around the world, and appeared in movies and books.

Her love for the ocean ultimately drew her to work in marine and nature conservation. Through her art, Toni aims to spark the same sense of wonder and connection that first drew her to conservation work—reminding us of our essential relationship with the natural world.

Through Hibiscus Studio, she is excited to share her love of nature and her passion for art. Toni resides in Hawai‘i, where there is no shortage of enticing subjects.

I hope my artwork using this unique technique captures your heart and mind as it has done mine. Please contact me with any inquiries, or just to say hi!

The mission of Hibiscus Studio is to bring joy, wonderment, comfort and connection to people through the power of art—in my case, hand-painted black-and-white photography.

My vision is a world in which people from all walks of life take time out from the hustle and bustle to appreciate the world around us, its beauty and fragility, through art and nature, and to realize the innate artist within themselves.
